We strap our equipment to the mid-grade Cybertruck.

which Tesla says should accelerate from 0-60 mph in 4.1 seconds. We easily bested that time with a 3.8-second run to 60 mph before crossing the quarter mile line in 12.4 seconds at 110.3 mph, just a touch below the Cybertruck Dual Motor's claimed top speed of 112 mph .

Not bad for truck that tipped our scales at 6,660 pounds. Like other non-performance Teslas, testing the Cybertruck Dual Motor was simple. It starts by selecting the Dynamics submenu within the main vehicle settings screen. From there, tap Sport under the Drive Mode options. Sport mode adjusts acceleration settings from Chill to Standard, shifts ride and handling from Relaxed to Focused, and adjusts the ride height to its lowest setting.

This version of the Cybertruck is quick, but not quite quick enough to turn its competition into cyberdust. For starters, our test of a 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning Lariat tied the Cybertruck to 60 mph and the quarter mile. The Ford is heavier and makes less horsepower than the Tesla , but churns out more torque . Meanwhile, a 2023 Rivian R1T Dual Motor Performance we tested outguns both the Tesla and the Ford with a 0-60 mph run of 3.3 seconds and a quarter mile time of 12.0 seconds at 109.1 mph.
