Money saving expert Martin Lewis is urging people across the UK to take action before the end of Sunday night.
The change is good news, as the average bill is set to go down for gas and electricity unit rates - but you could end up getting stung if you don't take a meter reading. As Martin Lewis has explained in the past, gas and electricity companies read your meter to determine your usage and then set your bill accordingly. Although your direct debit is usually kept at the same price, the amount of credit on your account will change month to month depending on how much you use.
Prices are going down by an average of 14% on Monday, April 1 - or roughly £238 for gas and electricity for an average household. So you need to take a meter reading as close to Monday at midnight as possible.
