Australian entrepreneur Dick Smith has received an apology from the national broadcaster after RMIT ABC Fact Check made a glaring error in a fact check of a statement he made on nuclear energy.
"No country has ever been able to run entirely on renewables, that's impossible, and so we should be making a decision to go nuclear now." Mr Smith erupted at the ABC and threatened to sue amid reports the fact-check would not be corrected, slamming the national broadcaster for"damaging my name" after claiming he did not support renewables."On 22 March the ABC published a story examining the factual basis of a comment made on Radio 2GB concerning the viability of renewable energy.
"The article also previously incorrectly stated that Mr Smith had rejected renewable-led electricity generation; this has been amended and the ABC apologises to Mr Smith for the error." "It has also added a statement from the CSIRO responding to Mr Smith's assertions regarding that organisation."
