Almost four million smart meters in Great Britain are not working properly, according to the latest figures from the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (Desnez)

A warning has been issued to nearly four million households with smart meters, as a woman was charged a whopping £3,500 energy bill. Almost four million of these devices in Great Britain aren't working right, which means families could be charged the wrong amount for their energy.

The whole point of these devices is to make life easier for customers. You shouldn't have to manually record and send meter readings to your energy company, reports the Mirror. Mrs Butler got £2,900 back from her energy supplier recently but feels this doesn't cover what she's owed.
