Local people were able to seek advice and support from the two elected members, housing associations, welfare rights organisations and energy advice groups on Friday, August 18 at the Springburn Community Street Festival.

An event to help people coping with the cost of living crisis has been held in Glasgow, in what it is hoped will be the first of many.

The festival which was held outside the shopping centre was organised by local organisation, Spirit of Springburn, who run the community hub in the centre and have worked to improve the area. “Bringing all these groups together in a one-stop-shop of help and advice means rather than multiple visits and phone calls we can get to the bottom of complex issues quickly and direct people to the support they need.”

Speaking about the event afterwards Anne McLaughlin said: “People were really appreciative that so many different groups were all available in one place to offer advice and support.
