The first is convenience and speed. “Gas is an amazing option for convenience and cleanliness. It's a quick lighting system that has you cooking in minutes,” says Wolf. Charcoal, on the other hand, takes more effort and has a bigger learning curve. “The hardest part is lighting up the coals and learning how to keep consistent heat,” Wolf explains.
“Charcoal grills are what I prefer because they give a very pleasant smoke flavor onto all of your food,” Wolf says. “Having done this for a long time, I can actually taste food that was cooked on gas versus charcoal. That being said, unless you're grilling every day like myself then the taste will be much more subtle.”
No matter which you choose, maintenance is key to both ease of grilling and the longevity of your grill.
