daughter Lia be driving at next month’s Pikes Peak International Hill Climb but it’s just been announced that the late rally driver’s wife will also participate in the event.
Lucy Block will jump behind the wheel of a special electric buggy dubbed the Sierra Echo EV. Unlike her daughter who will beup the mountain in a show run, Lucy Block will be competing in the Unlimited Class. The single-seater Sierra Echo EV uses a 55.8 kWh battery pack that powers a single electric motor which is good for 300 hp and 368 lb-ft of torque. The buggy has a top speed of 120 mph and runs on slick tires that should give it more than enough grip. The use of an electric powertrain as opposed to a combustion engine also ensures that it won’t suffer from reduced power as the elevation increases.Elsewhere, the buggy has been equipped with Wilwood four-piston brake calipers and vented rotors.
“Driving Pikes Peak International Hill Climb gives us a way to carry Ken’s spirit forward and do something he was excited to do himself,” Lucy Block said. “My biggest accomplishments have always been being a mother to my kids and a strong, supportive wife. Being given the opportunity to drive to the summit for Ken atA special wrap also adorns the Echo EV and includes branding for the newly established 43 Institute.
