From the moment Ram showed off its EV truck concept, the brand has been clear about its segment goals. The automaker specifically stated its plans to produce a segment-leading vehicle, including range, payload, towing capacity, and charge times. While that may have sounded like a bit of marketing lingo, Ram is ready to start to back up some of those claims.
It all starts with the truck’s pair of battery pack options, which support the STLA Frame chassis that underpins the Ram 1500 REV. A 168-kWh battery pack will come as standard across the Ram 1500 REV lineup, with Stellantis estimating that the pack should provide up to 350 miles of range. For reference, the standard range battery available for themeasures at just 98 kWh, providing just 230 miles of range per charge.
Of course, truck customers need to do more than just travel long distances. In order to satisfy those needs, Ram has focused heavily on their EV’s towing and payload capabilities. The Ram 1500 REV will have a maximum payload capacity of 2700 pounds, which sits ahead of the Lightning’s 2235-pound rating. The truck is also slated to beat out its competitors in towing capacity, thanks to its claimed 14,000-pound rating.
That metric steps ahead of the F-150 Lightning again, which can tow up to 10,000 pounds when equipped with the extended range battery. The Ram doesn’t beat the Ford in every metric, however, with Ram confirming output targets of 654 horsepower and 620 lb-ft of torque out of its dual 250-kilowatt electric drive modules. The Ford only produces 426 hp, but it brings a supercar-rivaling 775 lb-ft of torque to the party. Ram says the truck should be able to rip off a 0-60 sprint in 4.4 seconds.

RamTrucks I’d much rather have a small battery to handle acceleration and uphill climbs, with a small displacement 6 stroke range extending engine. Than a needlessly expensive gargantuan battery that takes forever to charge.
