The move is part of the agency's goal to have a fleet of 66,000 electric vehicles deployed by 2028.

The U.S. Postal Service's plans for a nationwide fleet of electric vehicles are getting closer to being realized. The service awarded contracts on Tuesday forThe vehicles purchased are Ford E-Transit Battery Electric Vehicles , which according to USPS are"100 percent electric." It's part of the agency's plans, announced in December, to make 75% of its newly acquired vehicles, known as Next Generation Delivery Vehicles, over the next five years electric.

Three suppliers were awarded contracts for more than 14,000 charging stations, as well, USPS said, to kick off its Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment inventory. As such, a contract has also been awarded for the agency to acquire 9,250 commercial-off-the-shelf internal combustion engine vehicles"to fill the urgent need for vehicles." In December, the agency said thatwill be purchased and are"expected to be battery electric," but said that depends"on market availability and operational feasibility."

Postmaster General Louis DeJoy said nevertheless, the plans will reduce the costs of the agency while improving their revenue, working conditions and service.

Who getting that contract?

Stollen from workhorse…

They must have a lot of money

I got a couple of friends who are postman, they just want some damn AC.

It looks like it was designed by Scooby-Doo

The government has to pay the lobbying scum.

I'd like to see how they handle snow and icy roads in neighborhoods.

I drew something like that in kindergarten 🤨

Better vehicles, slower delvery.

Maybe they can send one of them to my neighborhood. Because of a ridiculous law our development of 12 single family houses isn’t getting mail delivery. We have to pay for post Office boxes.

No they haven't. The USPS doesn't supply vehicles for nearly half of their mail carriers. Carriers in rural parts of the country must provide and maintain their own vehicles, for which they are reimbursed by the Service.

The US Postal Service hired a company invent/develop a custom vehicle just for the postal service... Couldn't they have purchased already existing vehicles, like every business in the world would do?

Who knew it would become reality?

Great. We'll have gas powered vehicles towing these pieces of crap when they run out of juice.

Thank you POTUS!
