will not share their chassis or powertrains. Instead, Lotus has developed the new large saloon alongside the Eletre SUV on its ‘Electric Premium Architecture’ sharing its fundamental underpinnings and electric powertrain. This is made up of a mixed-metal construction, with support for high-end chassis hardware like adjustable air suspension, an active anti-roll system, rear-wheel steering and a limited-slip differential on the rear axle.
The Type 133 saloon will share a variation of the Eletre’s powertrain, which consists of a 112kWh battery pack and two available e-motor combinations producing 602bhp or 905bhp. The motors will sit on an axle each, connected to an 800V electrical system that will give the powertrain a charging speed of up to 350kW.The Type 133’s fundamental aesthetic will draw from the SUV, with a cab-forward silhouette relative to rivals like the Taycan and Polestar 5, and lots of aero management.
The technology-filled interior will also ape the Eletre, with a complex and digital interface-heavy design that mixes high-end and sustainable materials. Active safety and autonomous driving aids have been a priority, with the Type 133 expected to include the latest LiDAR technology and ultra HD cameras.
