The world’s top seller of EVs hasn’t followed through on a 16-year-old goal of making them widely affordable and the Cybertruck, its next model, will be Tesla’s most resource-intensive.

. Musk claimed Cybertruck’s base price would be $39,900 though none of the company’s models has ever sold at the low end of his predictions. With features Tesla encourages customers to add, including Autopilot and Full-Self Driving, the actual price with taxes may approach $100,000 for the heavy truck.

As the once disruptive company matures, Musk is focusing on boosting sales of high-priced, high-margin vehicles, touting speed and power far more than sustainability. No automaker has played a bigger role than Tesla in popularizing EVs and getting car buyers excited about them since it released the $100,000 Roadster in 2008. It’s become the world’s pre-eminent seller of such vehicles, posting consistent profits in recent years after a decade of losses and is on track to deliver well more than a million EVs in 2022.

Forbes Wow I can’t recall the last time I read such a poorly informed article that’s full of opinions and feelings. Forbes So what is environmentally friendly? No motor vehicles? And does a cyber truck use more materials (other than lithium, but that is comparable to oil) than a normal truck? Seems that it has now become fashionable to bash Musk like it used to be fashionable to love evs. Forbes Tesla for sure the ugliest car design ever on earth

The electric cars with the best real-world range | AutocarWhat sort of range can you expect from an electric car in the real world? Our friends at whatcar put a selection of the market's most popular models to the test whatcar The ranges still fall very short, add the time taken to charge mid journey on a long journey is to be undertaken, which I do a lot, B'ham to Glasgow, Aberdeen or Inverness. Still more work required to get close to 400mls on my petrol engine and 650+ in my previous diesel car... whatcar And left out most of the new cars, chose the shortest range Model 3.. and even one of the oldest mainstream models, the Model S which comfortably does 300+. What an oddly out of date article. whatcar No mention of the model Y ? Mine will deliver a real world range of 300 miles ! And that includes a few 0-60 sprints of 4.2seconds. Why no mention in your publications? 🤦‍♂️
