Jeremy Hunt to unveil spending cuts and tax rises in Autumn Statement

The BBC has spoken to people in Whitehall and Parliament about what is likely to be in Mr Hunt's Autumn Statement.

The government argues the measures are needed to fill a so-called fiscal black hole - the gap between what the government raises and spends. The threshold when the highest earners start paying the top rate of tax will be lowered to £125,000 from £150,000. Universal support payments will end but there will be targeted support for those on low incomes and pensioners.

Yea but it won't effect him

Cuts and austerity is a deliberate choice when there are alternative ways to raise the funds, the est £170bn profits from big oil, the 1% who have increased their wealth by billions, the non doms and tax avoiders. Those pushing more austerity will be complicit in more of this.

And not one of the changes will truly impact the rich, so politicians will be happy! But the rest of us will suffer, AGAIN! And if the government carry on this way, how long before its too much? Doctors learned early what this minister is about! 10DowningStreet MartinSLewis
