'I cooked a roast in a slow cooker to cut energy bills - the result shocked me'

In the end, I opted for a Morphy Richards sear and stew slow cooker from Amazon.

It had three settings - low, medium and high - so looked simple to use for a slow cooker novice like myself. I found a recipe online that said a small chicken would take around five to six hours to cook on a medium setting.I set the slow cooker off at 10.30am, and expected my chicken to be ready at 3.30pm in the afternoon. It took another two and a half hours before it was ready.I lifted the lid off the slow cooker, ready to see if my roast dinner was worth the wait. The best bit about a roast chicken is the golden, crispy skin on top.

This 'article' is clearly written for clicks and the 'journalist' has no cooking skill whatsoever hence should leave this sort of job to someone who has. Slow cookers are not suitable for Roasts (doh) however they are great at cooking tough meats slowly (ergo cost saving 🤦🏼‍♂️).

In India, I cook a chicken roast on a gas burner on medium .It cooks within 30 minutes, the potatoes and all. Except you have to be around to turn it from time to time.
