The Met Office is warning Londoners to prepare for the risk of flooding as winter approaches, following recent extreme weather.
During the extreme weather, sewage came up through manhole covers and toilets in people's homes and flooded streets in Woodford, Walthamstow and Battersea.Danny Briottet says it's taken more than a year to repair damage caused when his home in Kilburn floodedDanny Briottet's home in Kilburn, north-west London, was flooded during heavy rain in July 2021, and is still being renovated by builders due to the extent of the damage.
Mr Briottet said they were lucky to get most of their valuables upstairs, unlike neighbours who didn't have insurance or weren't able to move their things quickly.
Flooding in London is caused by the built environment, and the constant refusal of politicians in London to do what is required now the built area is so vast. The current Mayor is also refusing. Just for the record I do very much believe in human-derived climate change.
I am totally for free speech💯😎💓
It’s going to get worse. Uk hasn’t seen the effects of climate change as yet. Heavy rainfall and extreme heatwaves are going to get frequent. The whole humanity will be extinct in 35-40 years. Pessimistic but it’s the harsh fact we will be facing.
Hopefully washes all the stop oil protesters away
Not that long ago the metofficeUK were forecasting a much colder drier winter. Why are they talking bullshit?
