Each of the 40-foot, battery-powered buses would cost an estimated $1.2 million, adding up to a combined $310-million expense for the 259 proposed vehicles.Article content Another $137 million is earmarked for capital upgrades to vehicle charging infrastructure at one or both of Calgary Transit’s Spring Gardens and Anderson garages. A further $44 million in other costs is listed, but not detailed.That includes Ottawa’s Zero Emission Transit Fund grant, meant to cover capital costs of building charging infrastructure and purchasing electric vehicles.
The city is also seeking council authorization to take out a $168-million loan from a federal credit facility to help fund the transition.
