Incoming UK Prime Minister Liz Truss didn’t get the “landslide” win she was expecting against her opponent Rishi Sunak, says The Australian Business Review editor-at-large Ticky Fullerton.

Ms Truss won 57 per cent of the vote in the race to replace Boris Johnson as the Tory Party’s new leader.

“The really interesting thing I suppose is the crisis she has ahead of her,” Ms Fullerton told Sky News Australia. “Whereas Margaret Thatcher in 1979 came in just after the winter of discontent, I think that winter of discontent is heading her way.
