Magnesium supplementation in women with polycystic ovary syndrome had a significant positive effect on improving total quality of life, according to research published in Reproductive Biology and Endocrinology.

According to previous studies, we hypothesized that magnesium supplementation might elicit beneficial effects on complications of PCOS. Therefore, this study sought to evaluate the effect of magnesium supplementation on AUB, alopecia, quality of life, and acne in women with PCOS.This study was carried out in the period of November 2020 to November 2021 in Isfahan, Iran.

To find the eligible participants, we screened the records of subjects who registered as PCOS patients in Shahid Beheshti Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital, Isfahan, Iran. We called them to evaluate whether they had signs and symptoms of PCOS. Then women who reported signs and symptoms of PCOS were invited to run an assessment based on the Rotterdam criteria to ensure that they had PCOS.
