BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Brunei - President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. said Wednesday that the Philippines is diversifying its energy suppliers due to consideration of geopolitical concerns.During a meeting with business leaders of the energy sector, Marcos said some of the huge gas and oil deposits are located in “conflict areas” of the West Philippine Sea. “That’s why we are trying to diversify our suppliers.
Our transmission system which has fallen behind in terms of development, and in terms of even their contractual obligations to the government in terms of building additional transmission lines. But we are working very hard on that,” Marcos said.“I think we’ve come up with some solutions with the sovereign fund getting involved in that. So we hope to put additional capital into the system so that we can accelerate the production the putting up of the towers and the transmission lines,” he added.
