DoE eyes longer plant maintenance periods

THE Department of Energy is studying giving power plants longer maintenance periods to allow companies to extensively look at their plants and apply the proper repairs.'In other jurisdictions around the world, those who do the first action are the plants themselves. In other words, they voluntarily take on the responsibility for making sure that they are able to adhere to the standards required of them,' Energy Secretary Raphael Lotilla said in a briefing on May 16.
