Using LFP batteries, Yotta Energy has eliminated the need to install a separate battery pack and the extra wiring that it needs.

, a clean energy firm based in Austin, Texas, has developed an innovative rooftop solution that tops Tesla’s in this domain. The solution isn’t about what Yotta has added to the solar energy setup but what it has managed to remove or replace from the mix: A battery pack that is separately installed., it also offered an energy storage solution called the Powerwall. The sleek-looking battery was a major improvement over the previous car-like battery solutions.

These batteries are cheaper to make because they use less expensive components. At the same time, they are also heat stable, allowing for the battery pack to be installed outdoors. To begin with, the battery pack is painted white and reflects all the energy it can. The battery design also includes passive cooling fins that dissipate heat when needed. Inside the battery pack, the LFP cells are mounted in the center with two ceramic layers that work as insulators to keep the heat and cold outside and away from the cells.

Direct current generated by solar cells must be converted into alternating current before it can be stored in batteries. In conventional energy storage solutions, an inverter does this near the battery pack. Since Yotta’s solutions do not have a central battery pack, the company developed microinverters that carry out the process near the cells and quickly add it to the battery packs.
