Shadow energy minister Ted O’Brien has dismissed findings in a report made by a NSW Chief Scientist which claimed it would be “naïve” to think a power plant could be built in less than two decades.

“If you want to get to net zero and make sure energy is still affordable and reliable, you must have zero emissions nuclear in your mix, in the absence of that you don’t have a credible path in Australia to net zero,” Mr O’Brien said. Mr O’Brien waved away these admissions made in the four-year-old report and assured Sky News Australia political editor Andrew Clennell that the best experts are saying the opposite.
