New Junior Electric Racing Series ACE Championship Becomes Formula G

, has become Formula G as it approaches a full launch. It aims to become a direct feeder for other race series including Formula E.

The switch to “G” is supposed to represent several key concepts, starting with the obvious “Green” aspect of racing with zero tailpipe emissions vehicles. Then there’s “Growth” because the series is meant to expand the possibilities for underrepresented markets. Next, it’s “Global”, because this growth is intended to be delivered on a worldwide scale.

Formula G is intended to offer affordable entry for young drivers, but also to provide highly inclusive career opportunities across all the roles of the motorsport paddock. The technology is also meant to be fed into automotive manufacturing to speed the uptake of sustainable transportation. Formula G hopes to work with universities around the world and their Formula Student programs to encourage new talent. This will include countries that don’t typically have a racing culture, which Gill sees as crucial to the Growth goals of the series.
