Two further energy credits are being considered as part of this month's budget, however both will likely be less than €200.

A further increase in excise duties on fuel, due to take effect later this month, is also likely to be deferred as part of the package of measures due to be announced on 10 October.

Reductions in Universal Social Charge and income tax will form the majority of the €1.1 billion in tax package that is due to be announced. However, it is understood that this is a complicated measure, with fears too that such an intervention could fuel inflation.
