Recently, two groups of students took a turn at planting trees that will benefit society in various ways in the decades to come. When people plant trees, it’s usually not just for their benefit. It is an investment of time, money and energy that comes to fruition over many years. Over the next two-and-a-half hours, the 10 students worked together in teams of two to plant seven large hardwood and five potted softwood trees, followed by approximately 40 smaller spruce seedlings. Despite the wet weather, smiles and words of encouragement and cooperative support were the norm by this hard-working and hardy NSCC group.
