Driving an electric car is definitely not stupid

Perhaps, like Forrest Gump, I am “stupid is as stupid does” and should have taken the advice of newspaper columnist Lorne Gunter or The Tyee magazine.Mr. Gunter recently stated it would cost him $10,000 to install a slow charger for one EV. I guess using my 110 outside plug-in, to charge my EV for my daily drives, at a cost of $ 1.50 per night is insufficient. And that would be the same with a 220 or a dryer plug to charge from empty to full in 10 hours, at a cost of $ 6.50.

On a $ 55,000 EV, the rebate is only $1,50. Of the more than 30,000 EVs sold in BC in 2022, only one third qualified for a rebate. As for the claims that EVs will crash the power grid, did the grid crash in B.C. when everybody plugged-in their electric heaters in the middle of winter? Even with a 100 amp service you can charge an EV if you have a dryer and a so-called splitter for that circuit.

I would fill the pockets of CEOs with million dollar salaries and contribute to the record profits of the oil companies, and spend another couple of thousands for repairs, oil changes, etc.
