Nationals MP Matt Canavan says Australia is “sleepwalking” into an energy crisis following the recent power bill increases.

“There’s very little commentary about the fact that just a few weeks ago our main energy regulator – the Australian Energy Market Operator – they

put out a report concluding that we are 8,000 megawatts of reliable power short over the next decade,” Mr Canavan told Sky News host Sharri Markson.

‘Ultimate irony’: Nuclear can’t be used to ‘supply electricity’ despite AUKUS subs dealNationals Senator Matt Canavan says it will be the “ultimate irony” that we’ll have potentially five Virginia class nuclear reactors over the next decade but we can’t use nuclear energy to supply electricity. 'This just highlights the complete stupidity of this ... the Australian people are waking up and eventually that pressure will bear on elections and politicians,' Mr Canavan told Sky News host Andrew Bolt. The irony is that Canavan’s mob didn’t do anything to advance the building of nuke power stations in their 10 yrs in Government. All mouth and no substance like all his raving’s. Angus Taylor - August 2019. “He said there were no plans to drop Australia’s moratorium on nuclear energy,..” So there’s that. 3 months after the 2019 Fed election, the Coalition is faced with facts that won’t go away.
