Hi, I'm Sam Hawley, coming to you from Gadigal Land. This is ABC News Daily. As we move into the cooler winter months. If you live on the East Coast, you're about to be slugged with a huge spike in your power bills once again. In Victoria, they could jump as much as 30% and around 20% in New South Wales, Queensland and South Australia. Today an energy expert explains why prices just keep going up and when it will end.My name is Alison Reeve.

Yeah liberals sold all our assets now we pay greedy private companies for our energy!! Wow lol 😂

We could have started investing in Concentrated Solar Thermal years ago, and battery banks to stabilize the (now largely renewable) grid instead of taxing solar overload. The gov could have built these things, not sold them, and added the power to the grid at a lower cost=roof.

Here's what the gov. should have done: Told our foreign partners who are pumping our gas, to hold in reserve enough to always meet our needs, now and in future, and to make it available to us at a wholesale rate (no profit) or they lose their license. Immediately, not 6mths.

We have people who can't afford their power. Home solar and battery might help, but they can't afford to install that or they rent. How about public not for profit power generators and providers?

Are they're raising their prices to get the government package for commonwealth pensioners. Retailers need to explain WAR prices. People in debt to retailers what a mess created by Retailers. Atleast they can't charge interest on debt.

We are on a journey.

Sadly no explanation given just delivering the inane sound bite that prices are going up. Why? Only reason mentioned was a war in Ukraine. Pathetic childish attempt at journalism
