Activist and author Zion Lights says without nuclear energy there is “no way” of achieving net zero without decimating people’s living standards.

“Britain is building nuclear power stations now, but it takes us a long time, it shouldn’t take a long time,” she told

Sky News Australia.“So in ten years, you could build enough reactors to de-carbonise and maintain your quality of life.”

That’s cute. If nuclear is going to “not decimate living standards” why is it 5x the cost of renewables and storage?

ziontree She also says Australia has nuclear weapons. I think that says a great deal about her credibility.

Then decimate peoples living standards

Just get your rooftop solar and save. Costly nuclear to make the rich richer. Big business wants your money. Take control and make your own solar power

NET ZERO = death. Dumbing down of society has been successful.

And not only her! It’s just logic and knowledge.😉

BrianDegan2 Smr=solution…they go to market in 3-5 yrs. So starting the plan now would equate to having them up & ready as fast as if you built a trad generator. U could also reconvert present coal plants. +smr won’t scare greens. Re mining, should start now to estbl leadership & help econ.

even with nuclear you couldn't achieve net-zero CO2 emissions and there is absolutely no environmental reason to try to since greater CO2 is wholly beneficial to life on earth and not causing the current warming period before the next ice age.

I know one person who thinks that the world is flat therefore it must be true

Nuclear power is the power companies’ favorite energy alternative because they can capture the source. Solar cuts them out of the business. That is why all this pro nuclear drivel is spewing out now… energy propagandists at work.

I can find someone to back my agenda too, stop being propagandists.

Hey Rupert how come u r not reporting on Biden's surging approval U R a news outlet r u not? yes just sarcasm

Give it a rest you’re talking BS

Wow, we can build nuclear reactors in three years if we put our mind to it. That ignores every aspect of the build process. What, where, who and how much? No government or privately company would take that on commitment. Hinckley Point C is proof of the complexity and challenges

Paint by numbers nonsense from Sky, so predictable

More rubbish from the nuclear numpties.

Well if u want green

BROOKE112283 There are no easy answers, now. Economic growth promoted by 'The Economists Club' is failing. The longer outcome of the massive 20th century acceleration of 'economic growth' is a matching reduction in 'human growth'. There is a beginning of 'The Long Emergency' ...

AlJenko98 If only people were saying this 20 years ago... Oh wait, they were.

Another self declared expert predicts the future. Not news sky, just another voice saying something that may or may not be crap.

Zion Lights up another bong.

Even the global warming extremists know that nuclear is the way to go

SkyIsNotNews

What a load of rubbish. People are going solar for themselves in this country. And it has improved their standard of living so much that they wish they'd done it ages ago. :)

Indeed, “net zero” is a bad and unreachable goal. (If you lower people’s living standards, you will increase their carbon footprint, not the reverse.) However, nuclear energy is clean and carbon-free, so it should be part of our energy infrastructure.

Go nuclear!👍👍

The USA and Europe have not opened a new nuclear plant in 30 years!

The British Hinkley point C nuclear plant is an unmitigated disaster even before it is finished. They passed a law which will force British electricity consumers to pay an extra power levy of $billion a year for 35 years to Hinkley point C. We need to learn from their mistakes.

It’s just strange that we’re told by alarmists that climate change is an imminent existential threat to humanity, yet we only opt for 35% efficient options that make people rich, and not every possible option as a matter of urgency irrespective of the cost! What price survival?

This is a worldwide problem. Nuclear power is the energy of the future.

From cold showers to pedal-powered cinemas: How the energy crisis is impacting everyday life in EuropeParis is about to switch off the Eiffel Tower's lights, Milan has turned off public fountains, and cinema-goers in Warsaw are pedalling bikes to generate electricity, all in an effort to deal with Europe's worsening energy crisis. All this for a fake climate crisis run by the mega rich of the world. Trump was right. Hopefully politicians will realise that fossil fuels are not only dangerous to the planet, but also unreliable, as only a few countries control their supply. Solar energy on the other hand is free and readily available.
