World's largest investment firms are divesting from oil & gas, so very few new oil & gas fields are being explored and developed. As existing fields are being exhausted, world's economy will be shocked with huge fuel spikes. Transport will become too expensive for most.
And there is Keystone XL, pipe on the ground just waiting to be completed.

Let's face it EV's could not be produced without petroleum. Reducing the production of oil will only make the manufacturing of EV's more expensive and perhaps stop their production.

Renewables can be added to the energy mix but will never and should never, replace oil & gas.
The world needs an energy market freed of all government control, restriction, subsidy or direction. Then we can discover the right mix of energy sources — renewables, fossil fuels, nuclear, etc. — for a maximally clean and prosperous future.
That’s coming from one of the smartest people in the world. We should pay attention instead of living in fantasy.
We need a proper balance between fuels, electricity, and other power sources for the future.
That is the physical reality truth, can't even deploy or maintain them without the fossil fuels they entirely depend upon including backing up the power sources with natural gas & synchronous condensers. This is why big oil is big on renewables, ensuring both future existence.

We need more Nuclear plants in Canada. If fossil fuels are going to be taxed heavily then Canadians need cheap electricity as an alternative
