The punishing heatwave that scorched India and Pakistan in March and April was made 30 times more likely by climate change, according to experts

The experts, who specialise in quantifying the impact of global warming on extreme weather events, made the finding in a rapid-response report.

But as the planet continues to heat up, the interval between such killer heatwaves will shrink even further. "Whether today's most impactful heatwaves could have occurred in a pre-industrial climate is fast becoming an obsolete question," said Dr Otto. More than 90 deaths have been directly attributed to the heatwave, but earlier hot spells over the last decade suggest that number will climb far higher, perhaps into the thousands. The withering heat combined with 60-70% less rain than usual turned what promised to be a bumper wheat crop in India into an agricultural disaster.

"One can imagine how bad it would be even for a 1.5C-warmer world," he said, referring to the aspirational Paris treaty target for capping the rise in global temperatures. Indeed, an assessment by Britain's Met Office using somewhat different methods concludes that warming to date increased the likelihood of the India/Pakistan scorcher 100-fold.

Ahh yess.... Rte: 'Heat in a warm country caused by sun'...nice

And we wear coats in in May Go figure 🤔

Maybe have your experts have a look at this video from Tony Heller and get their comment on it

I don't know what we would do without all these expects.

TOTAL BS

Christ but these experts are good 😳

'Before the onset of human-caused climate change, the chances of such an event occurring would have been roughly once every 3,000 years'....Now it will be once every 100 years...Maybe it was very hot in March and April 1500 years ago?

'30 times' and 'more likely ', you would miss the auld 'experts ' all the same 😏
