Resources Minister Keith Pitt says he wants to see Australian banks supporting the nation's resources sector and that he was "disappointed" by a recent decision taken by ANZ regarding funding. On Thursday, The Australian newspaper revealed that ANZ will cease funding the Port of Newcastle under the bank’s ambitious climate change policy.
Mr Pitt told Sky News host Andrew Bolt that he is "clearly disappointed with the decision of ANZ". He said he wants to see Australian banks supporting the resources sector "whether that is coal, or iron ore, or gold, or critical minerals". "All of which are a big part of our economy and continue to drive jobs for Australia," Mr Pitt said.
keithjpitt Is this the same mob that have closed down most of their branches all over the country, and refuse to allow customers access to banking at AUSPOST.
keithjpitt
keithjpitt ANZ is a horrible bank with 0 ethics, they care more about money than morality. I doubt their decision was anything but financial. Which says something for the future of coal!
keithjpitt
keithjpitt He's being told, dollar by dollar, what the money sector sees as the future of profit making activities. Pity the LNP has been backed by the wrong people.
