Washington state plans to send the money as part of the taxpayer dollars brought in from the Climate Commitment Act.

More than 700,000 Washington state residents stand to benefit from $150 million in energy rebates this fall. The state plans to send out the money as part of the taxpayer dollars brought in from the Climate Commitment Act .While about 750,000 people or families will earn $200 each in September, the state will be voting on what to do with the Climate Commitment Act two months later. The vote could see the rebates repealed for future years.

Alex Beene, a financial literacy instructor at the University of Tennessee at Martin, said the rebate helps Washington residents practice energy efficiency in their homes while providing extra money in their pockets.'While it's good to see Washington's government targeting state problems through targeted assistance like this, it's also easy to see why the rebate is drawing some complaints,' Beene told Newsweek.
