Tech businessman and philanthropist Dick Smith has called on Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, Labor, and the Greens to “see what’s logical” and to support Peter Dutton’s nuclear energy plan.
Mr Smith said the Labor Party had “violently opposed” nuclear submarines but had “completely changed their minds” when the Liberals called for them because they knew it was in the national interest. Mr Smith said Mr Albanese was pushing to “expanding things” by having solar cells manufactured in Australia, but it needed “lots of energy” which a nuclear power plan could provide.
