Anthony Loke: Special licence plate frames will be introduced for EVs

Earlier today, we reported how Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook announced the new road tax structure for electric vehicles . Well, he also announced another thing related to EVs or zero-emission vehicles today, which is the upcoming implementation of special license plate frames for the vehicles.

According to Bernama, Loke said that the special license plate frames are meant to distinguish ZEVs from internal combustion engine vehicles . He added that ZEV manufacturers will issue and install the special plate frames before delivering the vehicles to buyers. Furthermore, Loke confirmed that the government will introduce special plates rather than registration numbers to differentiate ZEVs from ICEVs. The Transport Minister also confirmed that his ministry will collaborate with ZEV manufacturers on the materials of these special plate frames and other details.
