Ramaswamy floated his own name for U.S. Senate this week, a job his advisers previously have said they didn't think interested him.

Ohio Republican delegates said Wednesday morning they aren’t sure, although they suspect his sights are set high and not necessarily in Ohio.

Ramaswamy, a 38-year-old Cincinnati native who lives in Columbus, sort of answered the question this week. Even before U.S. Sen. JD Vance was picked as former President Donald Trump’s running mate in the November election, Ramaswamy during a public appearance expressed interest in Vance’s seat. Gov. Mike DeWine would pick a replacement if Vance ends up getting elected vice-president..

Ramaswamy made a name for himself in Republican politics following the 2021 publication of his book, “Woke Inc.,” which landed him frequent TV bookings from former Fox News personality Tucker Carlson. In turn, he leveraged the attention into bids for public office, briefly running for U.S. Senate in Ohio ahead of the 2022 election before launching a longshot, self-funded bid for president instead.

“I’ve achieved the impossible,” Ramaswamy said, “which is that most of you actually know how to say my name.”Sherrod Brown leads Bernie Moreno in Ohio Senate race fundraising
