SANDAKAN: The issue of global warming needs to be taken seriously.

Sandakan Member of Parliament Vivian Wong Shir Yee said Sandakan has also been feeling the impact in recent months with rising temperatures and consequently reduced water supply in the area.“In this matter, it is important for everyone to work together to maintain environmental sustainability and cleanliness,” she said.

The one-day programme included activities such as plogging , environmental talks, children’s costume competitions using recycled materials, donations of used clothes, games and books, poster drawing and colouring competitions based on the carnival theme and a “trash to cash” programme.Vivian praised the carnival and hoped it could continue to achieve its intended purpose.

“MPS is always committed to ensuring that our town remains in a conducive state to achieve a more sustainable standard of living with a prosperous environment. “This initiative aligns with the Council’s aspiration to create a liveable city for the wellbeing of Sandakan people.”
