Adults can use manual door releases from inside dead electric vehicles but younger ones can't

A Tesla in Arizona died and in the process trapped a toddler in the hot car. Firefighters had to break the window of the vehicle to get the child out as quickly as possible. The incident highlights the danger to those who own vehicles with electronic door releases. Automotive technology continues to advance across the entire industry. Electronic door releases are one part of that wave and, in some cases, can increase safety.

When the fire department arrived, they told her that they couldn't get into the car. As reported by AZ Family, she gave them the go-ahead to break in at all costs. Sure enough, they had to smash a window to retrieve the child as quickly as possible. Notably, Tesla does have a procedure to get into the car but it requires several steps and a battery charger. https://youtu.be/SKMbyTfWbx4?si=srQLjdUmvJFgz-Uv Interestingly, this sort of situation isn't a Tesla-centric one.
