Members of the Swiss association Senior Women for Climate Protection, react after the announcement of decisions by the European Court of Human Rights to decide in three separate cases if states are doing enough in the face of global warming. that the Swiss government violated its citizens’ human rights by not doing enough to stop climate change will have ramifications for many EU countries, but particularly for Ireland.

The vulnerability of Ireland to such actions is because of measurable indications that climate policies are inadequate given the scale of the threat to citizens. And because of the failure to curb the country’s stubbornly high level of carbon emissions – despite the Government’s big ambitions and demanding carbon budgets.
