While Proton has yet to roll out electric vehicles, its green credentials has been bolstered with the unveiling of its solar power initiative at its Tanjung Malim plant. Here, the national carmaker hopes to reduce its CO2 emissions by 11,536 tonnes a year alongside generating savings from its utility expenses.
Commissioned and built by the Pekat Group and its associate, MFP Solar, this solar panel facility can generate up to 9 MWp of electricity, and offers Proton potential savings of up to RM4.39 million on annual energy expenses, while a further 3 MWp generated by the factory roof-mounted solar panels bring an additional RM1.46 million in energy bill savings, said Proton.
