40 to 50 percent of the planet's population is in cities that are vulnerable to sea rise. This means bad news for these five major cities - as the rate of ice loss has increased sixfold. 9News

Rignot, a professor of Earth system science at the University of California in Irvine, said the glaciers are starting to flow faster and break into icebergs that are moving into the ocean.

Since 1972, ice loss from Greenland alone has added 13.7 millimeters to the global sea level, the study estimates. The melt means that people living in cities that make up half of the world's population could be at threat of rising oceans. For millions of years, Greenland's ice has melted in cycles due to changes in the weather, but rising temperatures have been hard on the region, and the ice lost since the 1980s is more than has probably been lost in thousands of years.

The summer melt season has already started in Greenland, according to the National Snow & Ice Data Center - more than a month ahead of schedule.

Controversial priest aiming for a Senate seat on climate-change ticket“I've learnt a lot over the last 10 to 15 years in terms of applying things to human rights, to climate issues, to social justice”. 9News He’ll get my vote the day he proves his religion’s claims! Until then, he’s just another fairytale follower! NO, repeat, NO religion should have any influence in or over government, or have any laws passed in their favour! Freedom to believe is all the rights they are entitled! But surely if climate change exists, it is part of his God’s plan, like everything else that happens? 🤯🤯 Another fruit loop just what we need.
