Advice Direct Scotland has warned the energy crisis is still in full flow in parts of the country - and urged anyone struggling to reach out for help.

Skint Scots are not using energy in their homes because they can no longer afford gas and electricity, according to Advice Direct Scotland.

"Struggling customers should know that they do not have to suffer in silence – our expert team is on hand for anyone who needs help, regardless of their personal circumstances. The charity, which provides free and independent advice to the citizens of Scotland, recorded three times as many 'self-disconnection' cases in the first quarter of 2024 compared to when the energy crisis began in autumn 2021.

Advice Direct Scotland staff have recorded a total of 2,487 cases of self-disconnection since the energy crisis hit in the autumn of 2021.
