🔴 Energy firms have doubled down on a policy to send engineers out to investigate customers who cut back on their gas and electricity use in a bid to save money on their bills

Victoria Whiteman, 25, from Scarborough, North Yorkshire, cut the cost of her gas and electricity bill from around £115 a month to around £65 a month by turning off lights and her TV and barely using her heating in recent months.

At least seven different firms were named as having queried low energy use, even after customers sent in pictures of their meter as evidence, with some also claiming engineers had come to their door to check the meter. “When I showed him my meter he sighed and said it was fine,” the woman, who asked not to be named, said. “I was puzzled by his visit, and then it dawned on me that they thought I was tampering with the meter.

However, the inspectors shouldn’t be questioning neighbours, unless there is something wrong and illegal with the meter setup. Hilarious! I hope they spent a ton of money doing so...
