Opinion: The Parliamentary Budget Officer just debunked climate alarmism — via fpcomment

about the recent economics literature investigating the link between global warming and economic growth. It’s a fascinating topic and I’ve been actively working with on it one of our PhD students for several years. While I would quibble with some aspects of the PBO report, the overall conclusions are not out of line with mainstream thinking on the topic. Which is why the findings are so astonishing and radical compared to what the government has been saying.

Let’s pause there for a moment: 6.6 per cent after 80 years is a very small number. Canada has set out ambitious economic growth plans based on high levels ofand continued efforts to boost productivity and income. Suppose this results in two per cent real GDP growth from 2021 to 2100. That would mean Canada’s economy will grow by 388 per cent over those 80 years. According to the PBO, if we do nothing about global warming, it will instead grow by about 381 per cent.

In the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s 5th Assessment Report, released in 2013, that’s where. In the Working Group II volume, Chapter 10, the report concluded: “For most economic sectors the impact of climate change will be small relative to the impacts of other drivers.

Yes, you read that right. The IPCC concluded, not very long ago, that while greenhouse gases have warmed the climate and will continue to do so, the effects will be small compared to pretty much every other driver of change in the century ahead. This is the opposite of an “emergency” or “crisis.”

fpcomment No, he didn’t.

fpcomment OH-OH-- will he get FIRED for saying that

fpcomment So the only material difference is that inaction will keep money in the pockets of Canadians, and the other we all become tax slaves.

fpcomment I'm sure Trudeau will be firing this guy.

fpcomment You're not likely to see this report featured on the nightly news. It doesn't fit with mainstream media's narrative of 'climate disaster' throttling the economy. Or it's not SCIENCE in their jaded opinion.

fpcomment Some of the mainstream is finally starting to figure out that while climate change in itself may be real (how much is natural and how much is attributed to humans, it’s still not clear), the alarmist perspective is just a giant social engineering project and money/asset grab.

TinaMombourque1 fpcomment Just think after the government passes internet censorship laws , this kind of pesky information will no longer be available…. Bummer

fpcomment No they didn't. That's quackery.

fpcomment Not really... he just said the economy won't be affected by climate change. 🤔No💩🧐. Because it's a major cause of it, and depleting clean natural resource, and biodiversity loss. The economy doesn't give a crap about clean resource, it eats any resource you got for false value.

Opinion: The Parliamentary Budget Officer just debunked climate alarmismThe impacts of climate change will be small compared to everything else we’ll deal with this century, writes Ross McKitrick. Read on. Canada warming by 2.50°C! Can hardly wait. And we're spending hundreds of billions to 'fight' it. So when is the 'fight' over? How do we know when we've won? Climate scam...
