The Lagos State Government has said its collaboration with Standard Chartered Bank to plant 250 Queen palm trees on Victoria Island will help tackle climate change.

“Climate change poses danger to the human race and ecosystem as the planet is continuously heating up from many of our daily activities, including travel and energy production which may lead to disastrous consequences if left unchecked.

“We are happy that Standard Chartered Bank identifies with what we do at LASPARK and have chosen to support our mandate to plant 250 trees and protect the environment.” In his remarks, the bank’s Chief Executive Officer, Lamin Manjang, highlighted the need for everyone to protect the environment. “The global warming era has been predicted long ago and it stresses the need for everyone to support the environment.” Planting of trees is one of the ways to mitigate the effect of climate change on the environment and environmental sustainability is the top priority of our organisation’s agenda,” he said. All rights reserved.
