Indian minister lashes out at plans to cut emissions dramatically over the next three decades.

"2060 sounds good, but it is just that, it sounds good," Raj Kumar Singh, India's minister for power, told a meeting organised by the International Energy Agency .To the discomfort of his fellow panellists, Mr Singh singled out developed countries where per capita emissions are much higher than in India.

"The developed world has occupied almost 80% of the carbon space already, you have 800 million people who don't have access to electricity. You can't say that they have to go to net zero, they have the right to develop, they want to build skyscrapers and have a higher standard of living, you can't stop it," he told the meeting.

There was a feeling among officials that diplomatic arguments with China over human rights were spilling over into the climate arena.

Carbon Dioxide is a wonderful trace natural gas. It’s pumped into greenhouses to help plants grow. Vast areas become greener when there is more of it. Climate Change? That’s that big ball of nuclear fusion in the sky. Anything else is just cult driven politics. 😎

its up to richer nations to remove their co2 debt from the atmosphere, not stop the 3rd world from having its industrial revolutions.

Well, they are with that attitude.

Of course it is. No charging point infrastructure to enable move to EV and inflated costs of the cars. Reduced feedback tariff for Solar PV, again expensive to install, same with ASHP’s ... government not investing or incentivising to achieve any goals. “Smoke & Mirrors”

And it would appear a complete waste of time. We've just had a year of next to no travel related emissions and yet had the hottest day for 53 years. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Explain that climateers...🤔 And don't give me 'China was still operating normally'...cos they will always be. 😐
