Delta State Independent Electoral Commission, DSIEC, has said it has initiated a peace accord to be signed by the Chairmen of ten participating political parties that would participate in July 13 local government elections in the state

DSIEC Chairman, Dr. Jerry Agbaike, stated this in Asaba, the state capital, during a one-day capacity building workshop for journalists organised by the commission in conjunction with the State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ. Agbaike disclosed that a critical yardstick for selection of it’s ad-hoc staff for the July 13, 2024 local government elections in the State was that they must not be card-carrying members of any political party.
