Perodua recently showcased its first electric vehicle (EV) prototype from 'Myvi Conversion', known as emo-1, which will be the basis for the compact car maker

Perodua recently showcased its first electric vehicle prototype from ‘Myvi Conversion’, known as emo-1, which will be the basis for the compact car maker to develop electric technology.

The EV prototype consists of 3 main components, namely the power bench, the power converter network and the entire frame design which is made in Malaysia, while the development of the power conversion technology is done with a company based in Australia. According to a report by Berita Harian, the President and Chief Executive Officer of Perodua, Datuk Sri Zainal Abidin Ahmad shared that the process of developing this power testing bench was done in collaboration with 3 local universities, namely Universiti Tenaga Nasional , Universiti Kuala Lumour and Universiti Putra Malaysia .

“The collaboration that started in September 2022 aims to fully understand the technology used by seeing Perodua and the 3 universities involved work together to develop a network of EV powertrains from a basic level.” “Cooperation opens up opportunities for all parties to improve each other’s expertise and capabilities in the EV field,” he said.The Perodua Myvi was chosen as the model as it has won the hearts of Malaysians “Although the actual appearance of our EV is different from what is exhibited here, but Perodua electric cars will make an appearance in the market. We expect there will be no problems as so far, we are on the right track and hopefully will be able to reach the next target,” he added.
