Ausgrid’s latest policy of financially punishing solar panel owners is a seriously retrograde step in relation to climate change.

Ausgrid’s latest policy of financially punishing solar panel owners is a seriously retrograde step in relation to climate change . As aged pensioners, we recently invested some of our savings into upgrading our solar panels, hoping to do our bit for the planet, and now we find it is going to cost us more money for trying to do so.

It is reasonable, it would seem, for mug punters to instead conjure up the huge outlay for domestic solar power storage to buffer this inconvenience of failed planning — or fortuitous coffer-filling. Over the years, the public has seen the financial incentives for domestic power production dwindle into comparative meaninglessness. Now we face not a nice surprise from the magician’s hat, but perhaps the nascence of something darker, where we pay twice for our power. Once established, such a “feed-out” tariff would become as flexible and ad hoc as its once alluring opposite.First, Labor’s policies on coal and gas set us way back on the path to net-zero. That was an ugly surprise.

In light of the magnificent contribution Rinehart has made to all sections of Australian society, I find it insulting that the contentious piece of artwork currently gaining unwarranted attention was painted in the first place and then publicly displayed.
