Federal electric-vehicle rebate claims rose to just over 18,000 in March, driven by particularly strong showings from Tesla and Ford.

Other brands were also up across the board, as Ottawa’s Incentives for Zero-Emission vehicles program continues to see strong demand from buyers. The March tally represents a 35-per-cent increase from February and 117- per-cent uptick from March 2023, according to the latest data available from Transport Canada.

The Ford Mach E jumped into the third position, as the U.S. automaker submitted 1,569 rebate requests to Ottawa. That’s up from 682 claims for the crossover a month earlier.
