Ford announced Thursday that it would delay the unveiling of two of its upcoming electric vehicles.

U.S. auto safety regulators have closed a seven-year …According to Ford, the company’s three-row EVs will come out in 2027 instead of 2025 as originally planned. The company also said it will delay the delivery of all new EV trucks on the production schedule until at least 2026.

The decision to slow production coincides with Ford’s agreement to retool its Oakville, Ontario, plant for EV battery production. While 2023 was a banner year for electric vehicles, 2024 is seeing a sharp downturn in consumer interest. Dealers from across the industry have reported inflated inventory and a general lack of interest in EVs over traditional or hybrid vehicles.
